Here is how you join to support the push for change and form a union at Rocky View School Division:
Education workers at Rocky View Schools are signing union cards to win job security, just cause and health and safety protections, fair job posting and hiring processes, and a stronger voice at work.
Here is how you can be a part of it:
1. Sign a card
Signing a card means you are ready to build power and support forming a union at RVS.
Your card is confidential. RVS does not see who signed cards.
2. Build majority support
Once at least 40% or more education support workers at RVS sign a card, CUPE will file an application the Alberta Labour Relations Board (ALRB).
The ALRB will arrange a vote as soon as possible to confirm if workers want a union.
3. Vote YES
The ALRB will hold a secret ballot vote.
If the majority of workers who vote say YES, the union is certified and RVS becomes unionized.
4. Negotiate your first contract
CUPE would serve notice to RVS to negotiate your first contract. You would elect a bargaining committee of your co-workers. CUPE provides training, support and a professional negotiator to help you win the contract you deserve.
